The first- week numbers for Born This Way are official, and not only has Lady Gaga secured her very first #1 album, she's also driven the biggest album sales week since 2005, Billboard reports.
First week sales for Born This Way come in at 1,108,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan data, placing Gaga at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. Her 1.1 million total is the biggest since 50 Cent passed the 1.14 million with The Massacre in March 2005.
The controversial 99-cent Born This Way deal on Amazon - offered on May 23 and again on May 26 - helped boost sales, with estimates of 400,000 AmazonMP3 downloads. Total sales from all digital retailers represent 60% of Born This Way's total sales.
