Godfather Of Rap, Gil Scott-Heron, Dead At 62



‘The Godfather of Rap’ Gil Scott-Heron, who was HIV positive and struggled with drug addiction for years, passed away at an hospital in New York on Friday (May 27). The 62 year-old also known as ‘The People’s Poet’ recently became sick after returning from a trip to Europe.

The circumstance and/or cause of death were not revealed. Gil became famous when he released the song “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” out of his album titled “The Revolution” at the age of 18. Before Gil turned 25, he had already released three albums, and published three novels and a book of poetry.

R.I.P. Gil Scott-Heron.
